Mumbai: A journalist is detained and accused of attempting to kill a cab driver.
Journalist Rishabh Chakravorty was detained by the Mumbai police on September 2 of last year for beating a taxi driver close to Asalpha hamlet in Ghatkopar, according to authorities, as reported by ANI.

Following his detention, the journalist from Mumbai was brought before the court and placed under seven days of police custody. Following the victim’s severe head injuries during the assault, authorities have added an attempt to kill charge, according to ANI.

The event, which occurred in Ghatkopar on August 30, 2024, was caught by a neighboring CCTV camera.

“The Mumbai journalist dashed the cab with his car near Asalpha village in Ghatkopar after which the cab driver stopped him and asked to compensate for the damage caused to his vehicle,” according to Santosh Ghatekar, the senior police officer of the Parksite Police Station, as reported by ANI.

However, Chakravorty ignored this and drove off. The taxi driver then followed Chakravorty to his home on LBS Marg in Ghatkopar. When Chakravorty pulled over, the cab driver sped away from him. Rishabh and a lady in the vehicle then got out and began slapping the cab driver aggressively. The police officer then stated, “He lifted the driver and slammed him onto the ground, causing serious injuries to his head and body,” according to ANI.
