If you also transact with UPI, then you need to be very careful. Let us tell you that a large section of India uses UPI for online transactions. Crores of UPI transactions are taking place across the country every day, through which transactions worth hundreds of crores of rupees are taking place.
SBI issued warning
The country’s largest government bank – State Bank of India has warned its customers through a text message and appealed to be cautious. SBI has written in the message, “Dear SBI customer, beware of requests for immediate refund of money after unexpected deposit. Do not approve collect UPI requests without verification.”
How is fraud happening in the name of UPI? Many fake UPI apps have become available on the App Store, which looks exactly like the real UPI. Cybercriminals will make a transaction on your number through these fake apps and take screenshots of it. After this, they will send a fake message to your number in the name of your bank that money has been received in your account through UPI. Now these criminals will call you citing the screenshot and message and say that they have mistakenly sent money to your number through UPI. After this, they will give you their UPI number and ask for the money back as soon as possible.
All people using UPI need to be cautious.
If this happens to you too, then be careful. First of all, you should not take any hasty steps when this happens. Now you have to check your bank account linked with UPI to see if you have received the money or not. If you have not received the money, then directly call the cyber crime helpline number and complain.
