The most eagerly awaited film of the year is SSMB29, starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra. Reports earlier stated that Prithviraj Sukumaran would be seen in a major role in the film. But now, with Prithviraj having dropped out of the movie due to unforeseen circumstances, the filmmakers are said to have approached John Abraham for the role. It has been reported that some of John’s portions will be shot in Hyderabad.

The film is directed by SS Rajamouli, and he recently teased the beginning of the project by sharing a video on Instagram. In it, he was holding his passport with a lion in the background. He captioned it with “Captured,” seeming to confirm that the work of SSMB29 had begun. Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra reacted to the post in the comments. Mahesh wrote, “Okkasaari commit ayithe naa maata nene vinanu,” and Priyanka commented, “Finally.”

According to exclusive sources, Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra started pre-production work for the film a couple of weeks ago. They attended a workshop in Hyderabad and went through script-reading sessions. The actors also attempted a look test for the roles they are playing in the film. The project adds star value to the film as Priyanka will be acting in an Indian film after being away for many years. Sources close to the film have confirmed that the actress and the director, SS Rajamouli, had discussed for about six months before finalizing her involvement in the project.

SSMB29 is going to be a two-film movie, which would likely conclude by the end of 2026. Both would be released in 2027 and 2028 separately, making it one of the most eagerly awaited split projects in quite some time.
