UPI Continues To Lead Digital Payments Race in 2024: RBI

India’s homegrown Unified Payments Interface (UPI) stayed in the fast lane to make up more than 85% of digital payments volume in 2024.
As per the Payments System Report 2024 by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), out of 20,787 Cr digital payments recorded during the year, 17,221 Cr transactions were done on UPI.
As per the RBI’s data, back in 2018, India recorded 1,683 Cr digital payments, out of which only 375 Cr were made through UPI.
