In India, the Aadhaar card is essential for accessing both government and private services. It is required in banks, post offices, and hospitals. Recently, it was announced that linking the Aadhaar card with the ration card is mandatory. This step ensures that only genuine beneficiaries receive ration benefits, as some have exploited the system using fake ration cards. To prevent misuse and ensure eligible individuals receive their entitlements, the government has mandated linking Aadhaar with ration cards. This process helps in identifying fake ration cards and ensures that subsidised rations reach the right people. If not linked, individuals may face issues in obtaining rations.
How to Link Aadhaar with Ration Card Online
Step 1: To link your Aadhaar with your ration card, start by visiting your state's official PDS website. Log in using your credentials and navigate to the Aadhaar linking section.
Step 2: Select the option for linking Aadhaar with the ration card and enter your details, including both card numbers.
Step 3: After entering all necessary information, an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number for verification. Enter this OTP to complete the process. You will then receive a confirmation message on your phone indicating the successful linkage of your Aadhaar with your ration card.
It is crucial to link the Aadhaar cards of all family members listed on the ration card. Failure to do so may result in a halt of their ration allocations. The government has also introduced mandatory KYC verification for ration cards, which includes Aadhaar, mobile number, and fingerprint verification.
Additionally, updating personal details like name, address, or date of birth on the Aadhaar card can now be done online at no cost. Initially set to end on December 14, 2024, UIDAI has extended this free update period until June 14, 2025. This extension provides citizens more time to ensure their information is current.
If KYC verification is not completed, there is a risk of having your ration card cancelled. Therefore, it is important to comply with these requirements to continue receiving rations without interruption. The integration of Aadhaar with ration cards aims to streamline distribution and eliminate fraudulent claims. By ensuring only eligible individuals benefit from government schemes, this initiative seeks to enhance transparency and efficiency in resource allocation.
