On February 8, released Palestinian prisoners were welcomed with celebrations by friends and family in Gaza’s Khan Younis. This came as part of a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, which saw Hamas hand over three Israeli hostages. In return, Israel released 183 Palestinian prisoners, including some convicted of deadly attacks. Under the ceasefire, 33 Israeli hostages, including children and elderly, are set to be freed in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners.
