New Delhi: Whatsapp is constantly bringing new features for its users. At the same time, this messaging app with META ownership is preparing to start the facility of payment of electricity, water and other bills in India. With this new feature, WhatsApp will not be limited to UPI transactions, but will develop into a compost digital payment platform.
Whatsapp will pay bills
According to the information, with this new feature of WhatsApp, users will be able to pay electricity, water, mobile recharge, rent and other bills directly through the app. This will not require people to use different payment apps and their digital payment process will be easier than before.
Tough competition to UPI apps
This new bill payment feature of Whatsapp will compete directly to popular digital payment platforms like Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm. Currently, the UPI payment market in India is dominated by PhonePe and Google Pay. Let us know that this new bill payment feature of WhatsApp will be integrated with the already existing UPI-based WhatsApp Pay System. Whatsapp Pay was launched in India in 2020 and recently the NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) approved to make it available for all Indian users. However, this feature has been seen in Android beta version 2.25.3.15 of WhatsApp. However, it is currently in testing phase and its official launch has been confirmed. Now it will be interesting to see how much this feature is able to compete with Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm after the launch.
