The country's largest state Uttar Pradesh government has also announced a free LPG cylinder for the people. But to fulfill this promise, people will have to wait for about two and a half months. The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh had announced in November last year that the beneficiaries would get free LPG gas cylinders during Holi and Diwali.
After Holi in March, now the beneficiaries of Uttar Pradesh State Government's Ujjwala scheme will get free gas cylinders on Diwali. Only residents of Uttar Pradesh can avail this scheme. To avail this scheme, the beneficiaries have to link their bank account to Aadhaar.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Prime Minister Ujjwala scheme in 2016. Under this scheme, more than 9 crore free gas connections have been provided in the country. Free gas cylinder guarantee has also been announced in Andhra Pradesh.
