A 16-year-old girl died after giving birth to a child in the Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh, the police said on Tuesday.
The doctors at a Chittoor government hospital said they performed a caesarean surgery on the pregnant minor and shifted her to Ruia Hospital in Tirupati after her condition worsened.
The matter came to light after teachers at the ZP High School noticed that the girl was in pregnant condition and informed her parents about the situation.
When complications occurred at home, the girl was transferred to a government hospital in Chittoor.
Her parents mentioned that they didn’t realise their daughter was pregnant due to her being overweight.
The victim’s father said that they only came to know about her pregnancy when she was taken to the hospital in Chittoor for a check-up.
He called for a case to be filed under the POCSO Act against the suspects.
