The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday searched several locations of suspects associated with CPI (Maoist) in Chhattisgarh in the murder case of political leader Birju Ram Taram. NIA teams took at six places in Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh outpost district of Chhattisgarh bordering Maharashtra. In this, mobile phones, laptops, printers, hard disks, memory cards, pen drives and other objectionable materials and documents were seized from the suspects premises.
The NIA said that residential complexes of prohibited terrorist organization CPI (Maoist) and people associated with it (OGW) were searched. The NIA said in its statement that the supporters and the OGW are suspected to give shelter to the armed cadres of the CPI Maoist involved in the brutal murder of Tararat and provide logistics aid.
Unknown assailants shot dead
In October 2023, tribal Taram was shot dead by unknown assailants outside his house in Sarkheda village of Naxal -affected Aundhi police station area of the district. The NIA took the investigation of the case on 8 March 2024. Let me tell you that in October 2023, the BJP leader was shot and killed with an INSA Rifle and on 8 March 2024, the NIA took over. The agency is taking action on the CPI (Maoist) terrorist network across the country.
