Sushil Kumar came out of jail after three years
India's famous wrestler and two -time Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar has finally come out of Tihar Jail. The Delhi High Court ordered him to be released after filling a personal bond of Rs 50,000 and two bails of the same amount. Earlier on March 4, the court granted him bail and he was released on 6 March.
What is Sagar Dhankhar murder case?
The case is of May 2021 when former Junior National Wrestling Champion Sagar Dhankar was killed at Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi. It is alleged that Sushil Kumar and his associates attacked Sagar and his friends due to the property dispute, in which Sagar died and two of his companions were badly injured. The post -mortem report revealed that Sagar's head was attacked by something heavy, which led to his life.
Arrest of Sushil Kumar and court action
Sushil Kumar was arrested in this case in May 2021. During this time, there were serious allegations against him like murder, criminal conspiracy, bullying and weapon attack. In October 2022, the lower court framed charges in several sections including the Arms Act. However, Sushil Kumar's lawyers RS Malik and Sumit Shaukeen said that they have been in jail for almost three and a half years and may take a long time to complete the case. On this basis, he demanded bail, which was accepted by the Delhi High Court.
