EPFO New Rules: Update Your Personal Information Without Documents – Here's How

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has introduced a significant update, making it easier for members to update their personal information. Now, if your Universal Account Number (UAN) is linked with Aadhaar, you can modify your EPF profile without the need to upload any documents.

Simplified Profile Update Process

Previously, updating personal details in an EPF account required employer approval, which could take up to 28 days. However, under the new system, members whose UAN is Aadhaar-verified can directly update the following details:

Name
Date of birth
Gender
Nationality
Parents' names
Marital status
Spouse's name
Joining and exit dates

However, if your UAN was issued before October 1, 2017, you will still need employer approval to update your profile. Additionally, linking both Aadhaar and PAN with your EPF account is recommended to prevent delays in withdrawals and profile updates.

According to EPFO, this initiative will enable approximately 45% of profile update requests to be self-approved, ensuring faster and more efficient verification. This move aims to enhance data accuracy, reduce errors, and provide a seamless experience for EPF members.

To update your EPF profile online, follow these simple steps:

Visit the official EPFO website:

Open the Unified Member Portal.

Click on the Manage option at the top.

Select Modify Basic Details.

Enter the correct details as per your Aadhaar card and submit.

Use the Track Request option to check the status of your update request.
