Thailand At the BIMSTEC summit held at the BIMSTEC summit, Prime Minister Modi proposed to connect the payment system of all the countries present there with UPI. This will help in promoting trade and tourism among group member countries. BIMSTEC includes Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
The Prime Minister proposed the establishment of a Chamber of Commerce to increase trade in local currencies at the sixth summit of BIMSTEC, a group of seven countries. Prime Minister Modi also recommended the establishment of a BIMSTEC Excellence for Disaster Management in India for relief, rescue and cooperation for natural and man -made disasters. Bangkok Vision 2030 was adopted at the BIMSTEC summit to realize prosperity, security and commitment to prosperity, security and inclusion in the Bay region of Bengal.
UPI will increase cyber security
On the proposal to connect the BIMSTEC countries to UPI, Prime Minister Modi said that this would make business activities between these seven countries faster and easier. This platform can play an important role in the fight against cyber crime, cyber security threats, terrorism as well as drugs and human trafficking. In this regard, I propose to hold its first meeting in India in 2025. Emphasis was also laid on continuous increase in capabilities under the BIMSTEC group.
Apart from this, Prime Minister Modi also talked about the establishment of a continuous maritime transport center in India and said, “At the same time this center will focus on capacity building, research, innovation and coordination in marine policies and will also promote cooperation in marine security.”
