The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has introduced a new feature, in which PF subscribers can generate their universal account number (UAN) using Aadhaar Face Authentication Technology (FAT) through Umang Mobile App.
This is a major leap towards contactless and safe service to provide problems free and fully digital experience to millions of EPFO members.
Members who already have UAN, but have not yet activated it, can now easily activate their UAN through Umang app.

To resolve these frequent challenges, EPFO has now enabled the facility of generating and activating UAN directly using face authentication through the Umang app. This service can be used by both employees and employers and it provides several major benefits.
EPFO has ensured these 7 things:
1. Aadhaar and 100% verification of user using face authentication.
2. All the user's data is filled directly before the base database.
3. The user's mobile number is matched with a mobile registered mobile.
4. The UAN activation on the EPFO portal is completed simultaneously during the generation process.
5. The UAN generation is directly done by the employee and the E-UAN card PDF can be downloaded by the employee by eliminating any dependence on the employer.
6. At the time of employment, the employee can submit a copy of the E-UAN card to the employer to join the EPFO to the employer.
7. EPFO services such as viewing passbooks, KYC updates, claiming claims and access to much are immediately unlocked. The EPFO has said that it will soon promote digital life certificate through life proof by using face authentication technology by cooperating with the volunteers of Mai India to provide services to the pensioners at their door.
