In a major development in the sensational kidnapping and forced marriage case of a minor girl, the Rabupura police of Greater Noida have arrested five long-absconding accused. The arrests were made near a roadside eatery on the Yamuna Expressway. The accused have been identified as Himanshu Bhati, Bobby Bhati, Ankush Bhati alias Raja, Chirag Thakur and Padam Singh. Police also recovered four mobile phones and a Scorpio vehicle without a number plate from their possession.

The case is linked to a September 28 complaint regarding the kidnapping of a 17-year-old girl. The FIR alleged that Himanshu, Deepak alias Kalli and Vansh Tyagi had abducted the minor. Earlier, police had already arrested Ravindra Bhati, Deepak alias Kalli, Saurabh and Brajesh in connection with the case.

During the investigation, police uncovered startling details. The victim told investigators that she was in love with Himanshu and had gone with him willingly on September 27. However, since both were minors at the time, a court marriage could not take place. Around 20 days later, after the girl attained adulthood, she reportedly married Himanshu at a temple in Allahabad on November 17.

Despite this, the accused allegedly forced the girl to legally marry Chirag Thakur, who is Himanshu’s aunt’s son. According to police, the intent was to avoid legal action. On November 27, the girl was married to Chirag at an Arya Samaj temple in Ghaziabad, followed by a court marriage on December 4. Even after this legal marriage, the girl continued to live with Himanshu in Ghaziabad at the house of his aunt Brajesh Thakur and uncle Padam Singh.

During interrogation, Himanshu reportedly confessed that he was in love with the girl. Since both were underage earlier, the marriage with Chirag was arranged to complete legal formalities and avoid complications.

Police have registered cases under multiple serious sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against all the accused. Officials said the matter is being thoroughly investigated, and further legal action may follow based on the evidence collected.

The case has created widespread shock in the Noida region and raised serious questions about exploitation, misuse of marriage laws and family involvement in crimes against minors.
