WhatsApp has launched several new features ahead of the New Year that will make using the app more enjoyable. You can now send instant messages on missed calls, convert photos to videos, and add new stickers and questions to your status. Let's find out...

Just before the New Year, WhatsApp announced several new and useful features for its users. This instant messaging app, owned by Meta, is constantly working to make its platform more accessible. This time, the company has released several major updates, including Missed Call Messages, image animations, improved Meta AI generation, new stickers, and status features. The company believes these features will make users' everyday chatting experience easier, faster, and more interactive than ever before.

Missed Call Messages Feature

The first major change comes in the form of the Missed Call Messages feature. Now, if you call someone and they don't pick up, WhatsApp will give you the option to instantly record a note. Depending on the call, users can record voice or video notes and send them with just one tap. The company describes this new feature as a modern alternative to the old voicemail and claims it will make responding to missed calls much easier. WhatsApp has also added new reactions to voice chats, allowing users to send reactions like "cheers" without interrupting the chat. In video calls, the app will now prioritize the speaker, meaning the focus will be more on the person speaking.

What major changes have been made to Meta AI's image and video generation?

WhatsApp has also made several upgrades to Meta AI. Users can now create clearer, more high-quality images using AI. Advanced models like Flux and Midjourney have been used, improving image generation. The most interesting upgrade is "Image Animation." Users can now convert any photo into a short video using AI. Simply enter a prompt or message, and WhatsApp will convert the photo into an animated video. A new Media tab has also been added to desktop, making it easier to search documents, links, and media.

What new features have come to WhatsApp Status and Channels?

The latest update concerns Status and Channels. WhatsApp Status now includes new stickers, song lyrics, interactive stickers, and the option to add questions. This means you can now post questions that viewers of your Status can answer immediately. A 'Questions' feature has also been added to Channels, allowing admins to ask questions directly to their audience and receive real-time responses. Meta says these changes will further improve interactions on the platform for both users and admins.
