Pakistan: According to The Express Tribune, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced a 23-member political committee that has been reorganized. Notably, Ali Amin Gandapur, the former chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is not included in the new committee.
The Express Tribune reports that the party announced on Friday that its Secretary General, Salman Akram Raja, was instructed to establish a new political committee by PTI founder and former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Raja and senior leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi signed a notice confirming the panel’s creation in accordance with these directives.
According to the notice, 23 top figures, including Secretary General Raja and PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan, have been named to the reorganized body.
Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, who was nominated as the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, who was nominated as the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, and former opposition leader Omar Ayub are among the other notable members, according to The Express Tribune.
According to The Express Tribune, the list also includes former Senate opposition leader Shibli Faraz, Assembly opposition leader in Punjab province Moin Qureshi, former Punjab opposition leader Malik Ahmed Khan Bachhar, Overseas Chapter Secretary Sajjad Burki, and Punjab’s chief organizers Alia Hamza, Junaid Akbar, Haleem Adil, and Dawood Kakar.
The list also includes former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser, Senate coordinator Fauzia Arshad, NA chief whip Amir Dogar, Women’s Wing President Kanwal Shauzab, and Minority Wing President Lal Chand Malhi.
According to the announcement, the committee will be the party’s highest decision-making body and would be responsible for establishing policies, forming important decisions, and establishing standards for PTI’s legislative wings, according to The Express Tribune.
The announcement states, “The Political Committee will also lay down the policies to be followed by the parliamentary parties of the party in the National Assembly, the Senate, and the Provincial Assemblies,” according to The Express Tribune.
Despite Gandapur’s exclusion from the updated list, the party said that members might be added or withdrawn as necessary.
