Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while giving a historical discussion on ‘Vande Mataram’ in the Assembly, said that this is not an ordinary song, but the consciousness of the freedom struggle, the mantra of the revolutionaries and a proclamation of Bharat Mata ki Jai. This year the entire country is celebrating 150 years of the national anthem and the UP Assembly has become the first assembly where it is being discussed openly.

Bankim Babu’s dream is being fulfilled under the leadership of Modi ji.

CM Yogi said that today under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is moving rapidly towards ‘Developed India @2047’. Today’s new India is exactly the same ‘Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat’ which was dreamed of by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. 150 years ago, in the darkness of slavery, when the British government was suppressing the voice of the country through laws, ‘Vande Mataram’ lit the flame of freedom in the hearts of crores of Indians.

When ‘Vande Mataram’ echoed even on the gallows

After the Revolution of 1857, when the country was plunged into despair, Bankim Babu wrote this immortal song in ‘Anandamath’. In 1905, when the whole of Bengal took to the streets against the partition, ‘Vande Mataram’ became a weapon. Rabindranath Tagore gave voice to it, Maharishi Aurobindo called it a mantra. When Madam Cama hoisted the tricolor in Germany, it was written on it – Vande Mataram! These were the last words on the lips of Madanlal Dhingra and Ramprasad Bismil.

Congress itself had cut two verses from the national anthem!

CM Yogi revealed that the attack on ‘Vande Mataram’ had started before independence, not from today. In 1937, Congress cut the song of 6 verses to only 2 verses due to appeasement. Mohammad Ali Johar protested, Jinnah gave it a communal color and wrote a letter to Nehru-Subhash and got the song shortened. This appeasement politics later became the reason for the partition of the country. Yogi said – “This song does not belong to any religion, it is a worship of entire Mother India. Even today some people are giving fuel to the same divisive thinking.”

Even today there is a need to restore the full dignity of the national anthem.

The Chief Minister appealed to the House that the new generation should know the truth. ‘Vande Mataram’ is not just a song, it is a ritual. It reminds us that the farmer is plowing the field, the soldier is standing at the border, the youth is making new innovations – all are the living embodiment of ‘Vande Mataram’. CM said – “Today is the time to correct old mistakes, leave appeasement and rekindle the spirit of nation first.”
