Google has launched a new safety and emergency feature for Android users called Emergency Location Service (ELS). This feature will work with compatible Android devices, allowing users to call or text emergency service providers such as police, healthcare professionals, and firefighters in an emergency, and it will also share their location. Let's find out which state in India was the first to launch this service.

Service Launched in This State
Google's Emergency Location Service was first launched in Uttar Pradesh. This feature was rolled out for devices running Android 6 and newer versions. However, for ELS to be activated, state authorities need to integrate it with their services.

The company said that the ELS feature has been activated on Android smartphones in India. Users can use this feature to share their location via call or SMS to get help from emergency service providers such as police, medical staff, and firefighters. This feature collects data from GPS, Wi-Fi, and cellular networks to determine the user's precise location and claims to be able to pinpoint a person's location with an accuracy of up to 50 meters.

For the ELS feature to work, local wireless and emergency infrastructure operators need to activate support. In India, Uttar Pradesh has become the first state to fully launch this service for Android devices. The state police, in collaboration with Pert Telecom Solutions, has integrated ELS support with the emergency number 112. This is a free service that only tracks the user's location when 112 is dialed from an Android phone.
