UP Supplementary Budget: During the discussion on supplementary budget on the last day of the ongoing winter session in the UP Assembly, Leader of Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey told about the scheme of CM Yogi which is a panacea for deadly diseases like cancer.

On the last day of the winter session, positive dialogue was seen between the government and the opposition during the discussion on the supplementary budget in the Assembly. After Leader of Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey praised the Chief Minister's Discretionary Fund in the open forum, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his gratitude and placed before the House the policy failures and scams of the previous government.

Chief Minister Discretionary Fund Scheme for Cancer

  • During the discussion in the Assembly, Leader of Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey praised the Chief Minister Discretionary Fund Scheme of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He said that this scheme is proving to be extremely beneficial in the treatment of serious diseases like cancer. Through this, assistance is being provided to the needy not only on the recommendations of the ruling party but also on the recommendations of the opposition MLAs. He also said that people of Muslim community are also equally benefiting from this scheme.
  • Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his gratitude to the Leader of Opposition for his statement, but in his address he also mentioned the scams and administrative negligence that took place during the tenure of the Samajwadi Party.

Chief Minister enumerated scams and irregularities

The Chief Minister said that during the previous government, large scale scams took place in the scholarships of Scheduled Caste and Tribe students. Scholarships of many students were stopped or not given on time, due to which students from poor and deprived sections had to suffer serious losses. Referring to the pension schemes, he said that earlier the disabled, destitute women and old people used to get incomplete and irregular pension of only ₹ 300 to ₹ 750, whereas the present government is sending ₹ 12,000 annually directly into their accounts under a transparent system through DBT.

What is UP's 'Token Money' scheme?

Chief Minister Yogi also termed the system of 'token money' in road construction schemes as a serious irregularity. He said that after sanctioning a road project worth Rs 25 crore, only Rs 1 lakh was released, due to which the work was stalled and the schemes remained limited to paper only. The Chief Minister also termed the policies of the previous government as failures in the areas of power generation, health and employment and said that due to negligence before 2017, the state had lagged behind in the race of development.
