Noida, 26 December. Weather and pollution in Delhi-NCR have once again increased the problems of the people. The intensity of cold is increasing and the minimum temperature is continuously falling. According to the Meteorological Department, the effect of severe cold is going to deepen in the coming days. Along with this, dense to moderate fog and extremely poor air quality (AQI) can have a serious impact on people’s health.
According to the forecast available on the website of the Indian Meteorological Department, moderate fog conditions will prevail in Delhi-NCR from December 26 to December 28. Talking about temperature, the maximum temperature is expected to be around 21 to 22 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be around 6 to 7 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the humidity level has been recorded at 90 to 95 percent, which can make fog and smog more dense. At present the Meteorological Department has not issued any warning, but the situation cannot be called normal. If we look at the pollution situation, the pictures are very worrying.
According to the data of Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) and Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB), AQI has reached the red zone in many areas of Delhi and NCR, while at some places it has been recorded beyond 400. In areas of Delhi like Vivek Vihar (376), Sonia Vihar (362), Wazirpur (355), Rohini (353), Anand Vihar (390), Bawana (379), Chandni Chowk (354) and DTU (349), the air remained in the very poor category. At the same time, AQI was recorded at 219 in Aya Nagar and 279 on Mathura Road, which is comparatively less, but still cannot be considered safe for health.
If we talk about other cities of NCR, the situation appears even more serious. The AQI reached 398 in Vasundhara and Ghaziabad, while Indirapuram (351), Loni (354) and Sanjay Nagar (332) also remained in the red zone. Apart from this, pollution levels remained dangerous in Sector-125 (383), Sector-116 (361), Sector-1 (351) and Sector-62 (308) in Noida. AQI was recorded at 400 in Knowledge Park-5 of Greater Noida and 354 in Knowledge Park-3, which shows a very serious situation.
The thing to note is that after going into Orange level for just one day, NCR again became miserable the next day and AQI in most of the areas went into Red zone. This triple attack of cold, fog and pollution has increased the danger to children, elderly and respiratory patients. Doctors advise that people should not leave the house unnecessarily, use masks and avoid morning and evening walks. According to meteorologists, in the coming days, people of Delhi-NCR may have to face the double blow of poisonous air and fog along with severe cold.
