Devdutt Padikkal kept up his strong form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 by scoring his second century in a row proving once again that he is one of Karnatakas most reliable batters in one-day cricket. After hitting a superb 147 against Jharkhand in the first match the left-handed batter followed it with another calm hundred against Kerala on Friday. While chasing 285 in Ahmedabad Padikkal played a key role holding the innings together as Karnataka moved close to their second straight win in the competition. Karnataka lost an early wicket when captain Mayank Agarwal got out for a low score putting the team in a tricky position. Padikkal then joined hands with Karun Nair and the two changed the game completely in Karnatakas favour. They added a strong 223-run stand for the second wicket taking control of the chase and keeping the scoring rate well under control. Padikkal looked calm and confident during his innings starting carefully before slowly increasing his scoring. He took advantage of the pitch and capitalized on bad balls scoring regularly while giving Nair the freedom to bat comfortably at the other end. Their stand all but finished the chase and left Kerala with no chance to fight back. Padikkals innings came to an end in the 41st over when he was out to MD Nidheesh after scoring an excellent 124 from 137 balls. His knock featured 12 fours and three sixes and he scored at a steady strike rate of 90.51. This century was his 11th in List A cricket and added to his impressive record in domestic one-day matches. With this performance Padikkal now has 2342 List A runs from only 35 games with an average of over 83. Most of those runs 2282 have been scored in the Vijay Hazare Trophy where his average is above 94. Starting the tournament with two hundreds in a row Padikkals strong form gives Karnataka a big lift as they aim to gain confidence and push themselves as early title contenders.
