Royal fans have shared their outrage over one comment that was made to Prince George during the royal walkabout on Christmas Day. George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and seven-year-old Prince Louis joined their parents for the annual walk to St Mary Magdalene Church on the Sandringham Estate yesterday.
Much like every year, royal watchers gather to watch the royals on the walk, greeting them with well-wishers and gifts. A video, that has been shared to social media, showed one spectator make a comment to George about his late grandmother, Diana, Princess of Wales.
The late much-loved royal died from injuries she sustained following a car crash in 1997. She was mother to King Charles's sons Prince William and Prince Harry.
The spectator told George, who was standing with his siblings either side of him, "George, I've got something to say to you.
"Granny Diana would be ever so proud of you", to which George sweetly smiled and said, "Thank you".
Although many saw the comment as sweet and sincere, some have felt that the comment was "weird".
Taking to TikTok, one commenter said: "I'm sorry whoever said that to him, you crossed the line. It's not your place to tell him what his late grandmother would have felt."
Another added: "I think it's a very weird thing to say to George. How does that woman think she knows what Diana would think?"
Seeing both sides of the comment, another added: "She meant well, but it's not her place to even talk about that with them."
Noticing George's response to the royal fan, another commented that he looked "so happy".
