A fascinating part of Wales holds the title for being the UK's smallest city and visitors insist it is well worth the visit, despite its minute size. Home to an impressive cathedral and a growing food scene, this tiny city also benefits from being just a stone's throw from jaw-dropping coastline.
It may feel more like a village but St Davids in Pembrokeshire, Wales, is most definitely a city thanks to its stunning cathedral - boasting such a rich history doesn't hurt either. The city is home to one of the most important shrines of medieval Christendom, a pilgrimage place for centuries. City status was granted to St Davids by HM the Queen by Royal Charter on 1st June 1995.
You can see the city over a weekend, if you're planning on making a trip. It's the perfect size for a staycation where you can relax and enjoy the city's slow pace of life.
The city is situated in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park meaning there's a huge range of walks and hikes on its doorstep.
One person who visited on Tripadvisor said: "A truly wild and wonderful coastline to explore for short and long walks, with stunning views of the sea crashing into granite cliffs.
"The paths are well set and maintained, but you will need good footwear throughout and be prepared for strong winds some days.
"It felt safe on all three walks we went on, with the highlight being from Whitesands Bay to St David's Head and beyond to Arthur's Quoit.
"Buses can take you to various spots along the Pembrokeshire Coast from St Davids."
While you're there, you can't miss out on a visit to the cathedral.
As a crucial part of the city's history, it is rated as one of the top things to do in St Davids.
A visitor on Tripadvisor said: "Wow what a stunning little cathedral Free to enter with a suggested donation of £5 per person.
"This cathedral is set in a stunning valley location beside a river and ford. There are two gift shops and a cafe.
"For a small cathedral it is full of interest, a must see if visiting the UK's smallest city."
