Chikkamagaluru: Risky behaviour by tourists has once again been reported at Charmadi Ghat in Mudigere taluk, where visitors were seen entering dangerous rocky areas near waterfalls and taking photographs, despite safety warnings.
According to local sources, tourists have been climbing slippery rocks between waterfalls in the Charmadi Ghat region to conduct photo shoots. The rocks in the area remain wet throughout the year due to continuous water flow, making them highly slippery and dangerous.
Officials said even a small lapse in caution could lead to serious accidents. Tourists were seen standing on steep rocks and attempting risky poses, putting their lives at risk.
The area has witnessed several accidents in the past, including cases where visitors slipped, suffered fractures, and even lost their lives. Warning boards have been installed at multiple locations, but tourists continue to ignore them and enter restricted areas, often evading police supervision.
Despite regular police patrols, youths were seen engaging in such activities by avoiding the attention of officials, causing concern among the authorities.
