Yami Gautam reveals she wanted a role in Dhurandhar, says ‘I wished I was a…’

Aditya Dhars recent release Dhurandhar has become the talk of the town with its blockbuster run and phenomenal box office collections. The massy actioner was one of the most highly anticipated films of the year and it indeed lived up to fans’ expectations. While Dhurandhar boasts an impressive cast including Ranveer Singh Akshaye Khanna Sanjay Dutt Arjun Rampal and R. Madhavan it might surprise many that Adityas wife actress Yami Gautam also wished to be a part of the film. Yami Gautam Wanted to be Part of Dhurandhar In an interview with News18 Yami revealed that she wanted to be involved in the project. “When I read his next script I told him that it was one of those rare moments when I wished I was a guy. The script is so brilliant. It’s such an amazing world she shared. However Yami quickly clarified that they like to maintain a clear boundary between their professional and personal lives. “Regardless I don’t have that expectation. We respect that professional line. I don’t think that line should be blurred. We’re very clear about it she stated. Yami further added “If he feels that somebody else is a better fit for a part that he’s writing I would be absolutely fine with it. This understanding was there since the very beginning. On a related note Yami’s contribution was acknowledged in the credits of Dhurandhar with Aditya Dhar expressing his thanks. For those unfamiliar the couple first crossed paths on the sets of Uri: The Surgical Strike where their friendship soon blossomed into love. They tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in 2021. In May 2024 the couple welcomed a baby boy whom they named Vedavid. Coming back to Dhurandhar the movie has crossed Rs 1000 crore worldwide. As per industry tracker Sacnilk Dhurandhar’s box office collection on day 24 is Rs 688 crore and the movie is aiming for Rs 700 crore by the end of today. About Dhurandhar Directed by Aditya Dhar Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh as Hamza an Indian intelligence officer on a perilous undercover mission to infiltrate Pakistan’s Lyari gangs. The spy thriller also features Akshaye Khanna Sanjay Dutt R. Madhavan and Arjun Rampal with the final installment set to release on March 19 2026.
