Waterloo station was closed this morning due to a security alert, sparking travel chaos as tube lines are forced to close. The busy London transport hub was forced to shut at around 7.15am on Monday while the incident was responded to, and then reopened by roughly 7.40pm.
Transport for London (TfL) said: "This station is closed while we respond to a security alert. Tickets are being accepted on London Buses."
The Northern line then closed between Battersea Power Station and Camden Town, while the Waterloo and City line was suspended entirely.
TfL added: "No service between Battersea Power Station and Camden Town via Charing Cross while we respond to a security alert. GOOD SERVICE on the rest of the line."
