'If they are buying someone'… What did BCCI say on buying Pakistani player Abrar?

There is an uproar over Sunrisers Leads buying Pakistani player Abrar Ahmed in The Hundred. Sunrisers Leeds is a part of IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad. In such a situation, Indian cricket fans are furious with the owner of an Indian franchise buying a Pakistani player in a foreign league and are criticizing the Sunrisers Group. Now the first reaction of the Board of Control for Cricket in India has come to light in this matter. The board has made it clear that it does not matter to the board which team is buying whom in the foreign league.

Sunrisers Leads, owned by Kavya Maran, bought the Pakistani spinner in the auction held in England on March 12. Abrar Ahmed Was bought for 1.90 lakh pounds, which is 2.3 crore rupees according to India. In this way, Sunrisers Leeds became the only Indian-owned franchise to buy a Pakistani player in The Hundred. Apart from them, the remaining three franchises with Indian owners did not even bid for any Pakistani player.

'BCCI doesn't care'

While the fans are furious over this issue and are demanding a boycott of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, the Indian Cricket Board has completely distanced itself from this issue and has said that it is beyond the scope of the board. BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla said on this, "There is nothing like this in our IPL, it is out of our scope. We have no interest in who is doing what in which league, which player they take. How can we interfere in this? If any team is buying a player in any league, from outside in a league, then we do not care at all. There is no such player in IPL."

Only one franchise placed the bet

The owners of four IPL franchises have bought stakes in The Hundred teams, including Sunrisers Hyderabad and Northern Superchargers (now Sunrisers Leeds). Lucknow Super Giants have bought Manchester Originals (now Manchester Super Giants), Mumbai Indians have bought Oval Invincibles (now MI London) and Delhi Capitals co-owner GMR has bought Southern Brave. Out of these, only Sunrisers bought a Pakistani player.
