Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has sharply retaliated on the statement of Punjab Finance Minister and said that the financial condition of Himachal is much better than Punjab. Taking aim at the Aam Aadmi Party government, he said that elections are round the corner in Punjab, but the government employees there have not yet been given the benefit of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), whereas the Congress government of Himachal had implemented it in the very first cabinet meeting.
Referring to the recent political crisis, the Chief Minister said that the state was first facing a natural disaster and soon after that a political disaster occurred. Addressing the people of Kutlahar, he said, “With the blessings of you and the gods and goddesses, the number of Congress MLAs has again increased to 40.”
BJP accused of wasting public money
Chief Minister Sukhu also fiercely attacked the previous BJP government. He alleged that the previous government wasted public money just to win the elections.
He assured that all the required teachers will be appointed within the next two months to ensure better education in these new CBSE schools.
Gifts worth crores to Kutlahar
On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced the opening of DSP office and Sub Judge Court in Bangana. He also laid the foundation stone of Turkal-Panga drinking water scheme costing Rs 14.92 crore. Apart from this, it was also announced to open Primary Health Centers (PHC) in Rayansari and Lathiani. Sukhu said that the government is committed to providing clean drinking water to the people of the state and from the next financial year, Rs 2000 crore will be spent on cleaning water with modern technology.
We hills are not afraid of anyone: Agnihotri
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri also took the Punjab government to task. While advising the Finance Minister of Punjab to manage his house, he said that the debt of Punjab has increased to Rs 4.50 lakh crore.
Agnihotri said, “The Supreme Court directed BBMB to give Rs 4500 crore to Himachal, but Punjab has not yet given the money. Not only this, Punjab has also taken possession of the Shanan project and we have 7.16 percent stake in Chandigarh. We in the hills are not afraid of anyone.” Taking a dig at the internal discord of BJP in Kutlahar, he said that here one is Virendra Kanwar’s BJP and the other is Bhutto’s BJP.
