The Central Government has launched the 'Sarthak PDS' scheme to further improve the ration distribution system. The objective of this new system is to enhance transparency in ration distribution, prevent irregularities, and ensure timely delivery of rations to the public. The government claims that approximately 81.35 crore ration card holders across the country will benefit from this scheme. An expenditure of ₹25,530 crore is planned for this initiative over the next five years.

What is the 'Sarthak PDS' scheme?
Sarthak PDS (Public Distribution System) is a new technology-driven system designed to digitize and modernize the entire ration distribution process. Currently, issues such as delays in distribution, record discrepancies, and a lack of monitoring are frequently encountered. The new scheme has been introduced to mitigate these problems.

Under this scheme, the movement of food grains from warehouses to ration shops will be monitored. Additionally, technology will be leveraged to improve grievance redressal and the management of beneficiary records.

Three key components of the scheme: Nirmal
This will be an AI-based beneficiary registration system. It will integrate various government records, making it easier to identify fake or duplicate beneficiaries.

ASHA
This will be an AI-powered grievance redressal and support platform. It will be integrated with WhatsApp and chatbots, allowing people to register complaints and access information.

Saksham
This system will monitor the supply and transportation of rations. It will include features such as vehicle tracking, QR codes, and demand forecasting.

Monitoring every aspect of ration operations
Under the new scheme, the entire journey of the grain from the warehouse to the ration shop will be tracked online. This will enable officials to monitor where the ration has reached and the quantity distributed.

The government believes that the use of this technology will make the ration distribution system more transparent, efficient, and reliable than before. Millions of ration card holders will directly benefit from this.
