Toss Insights from Captains
Following the toss, Afghanistan's captain Hashmatullah Shahidi explained his decision to bowl first, citing the fresh pitch that is expected to aid spin bowlers early in the game. He acknowledged that the team struggled with partnerships in their last match but expressed optimism about a stronger performance this time. Shahidi stated, "We want to bowl first. The wicket looks fresh, and I believe it will spin in the first innings. In the last game, we played well but missed crucial partnerships. Hopefully, we can come back stronger. Our players are passionate about cricket."
On the other hand, Indian captain Shubman Gill mentioned that India would have opted to bowl first as well, emphasizing the need for gaining experience in tough situations. He confirmed three changes in the playing eleven, including Prince Yadav's debut, along with the return of Kuldeep Yadav and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Gill remarked, "We would have bowled first too. It's all about facing difficult situations and gaining that experience. We have three changes; Prince is making his debut, and we have Kuldeep and Jaiswal back in the team."
