The 2025 Met Gala, themed ‘Superne: Tailoring Black Style’, was a celebration of Black fashion’s enduring legacy—from its 18th-century roots to its bold, modern expressions. But this year, it wasn’t just Western icons who turned heads. Indian celebrities commanded the spotlight with a striking mix of heritage, glamour, and innovation that redefined global fashion on one of its grandest stages.
Leading the way was Shah Rukh Khan, who made a landmark debut as the first Indian male actor to attend the Met Gala. The king of Bollywood turned heads in a regal black Sabyasachi ensemble, complete with a tiger sceptre that symbolized strength and pride. His look paid homage to royal India while exuding the refined edge of a modern-day maharaja.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas made a dazzling return to the Met steps with husband Nick Jonas. Their chemistry was magnetic, but it was Priyanka’s bold polka-dot suit-dress by Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing that captured global attention. Blending sharp tailoring with playful detailing, the outfit was a standout fusion of couture and charisma.
Diljit Dosanjh brought cultural authenticity front and center, making waves in traditional Punjabi attire. Dressed by Prabal Gurung, his outfit included a kurta, tehmat, and turban—a proud representation of his Sikh roots. His confident and dignified appearance offered a refreshing and respectful tribute to South Asian tradition.
Kiara Advani, meanwhile, stunned in custom Gaurav Gupta couture. Her look was the epitome of soft power: flowing fabric, structured elegance, and the unmistakable glow of impending motherhood. Her serene presence added emotional depth to the evening’s high-octane fashion energy.
Together, these four Indian stars didn’t just attend the Met Gala—they transformed it. With style, symbolism, and cultural pride, they made it clear that global fashion has many homes—and India is undeniably one of them.
