
Bank Holiday: In July 2025, banks across the country will have a total of 13 days off, including 4 Sundays, 2 Saturdays, and 7 state-specific holidays. Customers should complete banking work on time as branches will be closed during the holidays, although online services will remain operational.
Bank Holiday: Bank holidays in India are decided on the basis of local festivals, religious events and weekly holidays. Under the Negotiable Instruments Act of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banking services will be suspended for a total of 13 days across the country in July 2025. These holidays are determined according to different states, this weekly holiday: Banks closed on Sunday and Saturday
Banks will be closed in all states on four Sundays (6, 13, 20 and 27 July) in the month of July. Apart from this, banks will also remain closed due to second Saturday on July 12 and fourth Saturday on July 26. In total, there will be 6 days of weekly holidays, which will be applicable in all the states.
7 days holiday due to local and religious reasons
Apart from these, banks will also remain closed due to religious and cultural occasions in various states:
3 July: Banks will remain closed in Agartala on the occasion of Kharchi Puja.
5 July: There will be a holiday in Jammu and Srinagar due to the birthday of Guru Hargobind Singh Ji.
14 July: Banks will remain closed in Shillong as it is the day after Bakr Eid (Eid-ul-Azha).
16 July: Holiday has been declared in Dehradun on the occasion of Harela festival.
17 July: There will be a holiday in Shillong due to the death anniversary of U Tirot Singh.
19 July: There will be a holiday in Agartala on the occasion of Ker Puja.
28 July: Banks will remain closed in Gangtok on the festival called Drukpa Tse-She.
Plan your holidays in advance
Keeping these holidays in mind, if you have to do any important bank related work like check clearance, loan documents, passbook update, or cash transactions, then plan in advance. This information is especially important for the business class, government employees and students.
Bank Holiday: Online banking services will remain operational
Even though bank branches will remain closed during these holidays, internet banking, mobile banking and ATM services will remain operational as usual. Nevertheless, it would be better to do the necessary transactions before the holidays to avoid technical problems.
