According to Hyderabad police, the couple would perform explicit acts in front of a camera, hiding their identities with face masks. They then broadcasted these live sessions through a paid mobile app.
In exchange, they earned ₹2,000 per live stream and ₹500 for each recorded clip.
Authorities revealed that the couple targeted specific online groups where there was a demand for such obscene content.
They set up transactions through online wallets to receive payments anonymously.
The operation continued for several months until police tracked their activities through cyber monitoring and arrested them.
The police also seized their mobile phones and other electronic devices used to record and upload the videos.
A case has been registered under the IT Act and relevant sections of the IPC related to obscenity.
Officials have warned that such activities not only promote immoral behavior but also pose serious privacy and cybercrime risks.
They urged the public to report suspicious online content and reminded that participating in or sharing such explicit material is a punishable offense.
This incident highlights the dark side of social media and streaming apps, where easy access can lead to exploitation and illegal content distribution.
Police have assured strict action against anyone involved in similar activities.
