Indian singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh and Pakistani actress Hania Aamir’s new Punjabi film ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ has made history at the Pakistani box office, recording an exceptional response on its opening day.
Despite ongoing political tensions and controversy in India due to the film’s cross-border cast, Sardaar Ji 3 has received overwhelming support from Pakistani audiences. The film earned a staggering PKR 4.5 crore on its first day, surpassing both Indian and local Punjabi film releases, including even the first-day collection of Salman Khan’s blockbuster Sultan, which once dominated the Pakistani box office.
The film was released globally, excluding India, on June 27, 2025, and its unexpected success in Pakistan has surprised many in the film industry.
Despite challenges like economic instability, cinema closures, and a struggling film industry in Pakistan, Sardaar Ji 3 has managed to revive excitement among local moviegoers, proving once again that quality content still attracts audiences.
Featuring stunning visuals, strong performances, and a vibrant portrayal of Punjabi culture, the on-screen chemistry between Diljit Dosanjh and Hania Aamir has been widely appreciated.
Hania Aamir’s Heartfelt Thank You to Fans
To celebrate the film’s success, Hania Aamir shared a video message on Instagram, thanking her Pakistani fans.
“Your love has taken ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ to new heights. It’s all because of you. I’m truly grateful to each and every one of you,” she said.
Critics have also praised Hania’s debut in Indian Punjabi cinema, noting her screen presence and performance.
The film’s trailer, which was released in mid-June, sparked a wave of backlash on Indian social media for casting a Pakistani actress. As India-Pakistan tensions escalated, several public figures and users called for a boycott of the film and of Diljit Dosanjh himself.
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees even sent a letter to filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, urging him to sever all ties with Diljit. There were also appeals to cancel Diljit’s citizenship and blacklist him from the Indian entertainment industry.
Still, Diljit stood firm and refused to drop Hania from the project, a move now celebrated by fans across Pakistan.
