Reliance Jio can become the world’s largest fixed wireless access service provider, overtaking America’s largest telecom company T-Mobile. In simple words, the Wi-Fi service available in homes and offices is called FWA i.e. Fixed Wireless Access Service. ICICI Securitis said in a report released on Sunday that Reliance Jio is likely to be the world’s highest FWA customers by June 2025.
T-Mobile figures show that in March 2025, the company had nearly 68 lakh 50 thousand FWA customers. In comparison, according to recent data from Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), in May, the number of FWA customers of Reliance Jio had crossed 68 lakh 80 thousand. Obviously, the American company will also add new customers in the next few months. But the speed of adding customers to Reliance Jio is much higher.
In May, the company has added around 7.5 lakh new FWA customers to its portfolio. ICICI Securitis believes that the speed with which Reliance Jio is adding new FWA customers will overtake the American company T mobile by June 2025.
Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel offer FWA service in India. In May, Airtel added about 1 lakh 82 thousand new customers. The company’s FWA customers have now increased to 15 lakh 40 thousand. Vodafone Idea does not provide FWA service yet.
