Bihar's Voter List Made Available Online
The Election Commission of India has announced the upload of the 2003 voter list for Bihar on its official website, which includes details of 49.6 million voters. The Commission clarified that these voters are not required to submit any documents. Additionally, it stated that the children of these voters also do not need to provide any related documents from their parents. This clarification comes shortly after opposition parties raised concerns regarding the 'special intensive revision' of the voter list, just three months ahead of the assembly elections in Bihar.

The Election Commission noted that the accessibility of the 2003 voter list will significantly aid the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) in Bihar, as approximately 60% of the total voters will not need to submit any documents. It stated, "These 49.6 million voters will need to verify their details in the 2003 voter list and submit a filled enumeration form."
Furthermore, according to the guidelines, any individual whose name is not present in the 2003 Bihar voter list can utilize a portion of this list instead of providing additional documents for their parents. The Election Commission emphasized that in such cases, no other documents will be required from the parents. Only the relevant excerpt or details from the 2003 electoral roll will suffice. Voters in this category will only need to submit their own documents along with the completed enumeration form.

During this intensive revision process, booth-level officers (BLOs) are conducting door-to-door surveys for verification. In the previous special intensive revision, BLOs would carry a 'enumeration pad' to be filled out by the head of the household. However, this time, each voter in the household will be required to submit an individual enumeration form. Voters added to the list after January 1, 2003, will need to provide proof of citizenship, which was the year of the last intensive revision.
