There was a stir in Delhi politics when BJP government minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa called the people of Purvanchal living in the slums of the capital as ‘Bangladeshi’ and ‘Rohingya’. In protest against this statement, the Purvanchal wing of the Aam Aadmi Party staged a strong protest on Monday. In this demonstration outside the MLA office at Rajouri Garden, ‘AAP’ leaders demanded public apology from the minister and said that the language that insults the people of Purvanchal would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
A large number of Aam Aadmi Party workers attended the protest including MLA Sanjeev Jha, former MLA Rituraj Jha, Akhilesh husband Tripathi, Vinay Mishra and Delhi Women Wing President Sarika Chaudhary. This demonstration was part of the ‘Ghar-Hurgar Bachao Andolan’, which aims to protect the rights of slums in Delhi.
An insult to Purvanchalis: BJP’s mindset exposed
AAP’s Delhi Pradesh President Saurabh Bhardwaj said that Manjinder Singh Sirsa has not only insulted the people living in the slums as Bangladeshi and Rohingya but also revealed the insensitive mentality of the BJP government. He alleged that the BJP is using such a language to justify its decision to destroy the slums. He said that the Aam Aadmi Party will always stand with the people of Purvanchal for dignity.
Promises in the past, now insulting: Sanjeev Jha’s attack
MLA Sanjeev Jha surrounded the BJP in sharp words. He said that BJP leaders spent nights with these slums during the elections, ate food and asked them to vote as “my-father”. Now the same people are calling Purvanchals Bangladeshi and Rohingya. He questioned whether those who are BJP workers living in slums are also Rohingya? If not, why are they not fighting their self -respect?
Sirsa apologizes to Purvanchalis: Tripathi’s warning
AAP’s Purvanchal Wing President Akhilesh husband Tripathi said that the BJP government is not only breaking the slums, but is also attacking the identity of the people of Purvanchal. He warned that if Manjinder Singh Sirsa did not publicly apologized, the people of Purvanchal will boycott them wherever they will go and show black flags.
BJP’s policy hate from Purvanchal: Rituraj Jha
Former MLA Rituraj Jha accused the BJP of hating the people of Purvanchal and the same is clear from the statements of his leaders. He said that 50 to 60 lakh Purvanchal residents live in Delhi, most of which live in slums and raw colonies. The BJP’s attitude is derogatory for all of them. He said that if the apology is not sought, then the people of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh will answer the BJP.
Dual character will not work: Vinay Mishra’s statement
Former MLA Vinay Mishra said that Manjinder Singh Sirsa used to go to the slums during the election and get rakhi tied, giving money to women and now humiliating the same people. He said that in the development of Delhi, the hard work of the people of UP-Bihar is involved and the BJP is hating them today. Accusing the BJP of adopting a double character, he said that love and later hatred at the time of elections, it is the real face of BJP politics.
Opposition of women also: Sarika Chaudhary’s statement
AAP Women Wing President Sarika Chaudhary said that Manjinder Singh Sirsa’s behavior is unbearable. He questioned whether the people of UP-Bihar are not citizens of India? He told that most of the people living in slums have settled in Delhi for years, their ancestors also lived here. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should resign Sirsa because such a leader has no right to live in Delhi.
