New Delhi . As captain, the career of Captain Shubman Gill was not the same as he wanted. Despite scoring 5-5 centuries in the Headingley Test, Team India suffered defeat and Team India is now 0–1 in the 5-match Test series against England. After the first Test, many questions were raised on the captaincy of Shubman Gill, although he has got the support of former coach Ravi Shastri. Talking to Wisden, Shastri supported Gill that he would be in this role with time and experience.

Shubman Gill’s captaincy career has also been very difficult, neither is Rohit Sharma in the team nor Virat Kohli to guide. The team is passing through the change. In such a situation, despite losing the Leeds Test, Shastri insisted that Gill has a unique mixture of class and restraint that makes them different from others.
Ravi Shastri said, “If Gill is unable to move forward, I will be disappointed. Dull, lazy and luxurious, and when he bats, he has a royal style. If he can learn with experience and mold himself according to the circumstances, I think he is a name that I can see.”
The former Indian coach believes that Gill’s development outside the field has been equally impressive. Shastri said, “He has quite mature. The way he handles the media, the way he talks in the press conference and during the toss, he has become quite mature.”
He requested Head Coach Gautam Gambhir and Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar, including BCCI, that Shubman Gill should give three years to prove himself as a captain.
Ravi Shastri said, “Let him be in the team for three years. Don’t make any changes in whatever it is in the series. Stay with him for three years, and I think he will do well for you.”
