New Delhi: Team India are preparing to play the second Test match of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 that will start on July 2 and will be played on Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham till July 6. England lead the series by one Test to nil as they registered a 5-wicket win over the Indian team in the series opener. In a crack at trying to turn the tide on the series Team India are supposed to make slight changes in their playing XI ahead of the second Test against England. Ryan ten Doeschate the assistant coach also alluded to potential change of the line-up in a pre-match press conference in Birmingham. India to include two spinners Coach Ryan ten Doeschate has confirmed that Team India will include two spinners in the 2 nd Test against England on his confirmation at the pre-match press conference. It is a good probability that Kuldeep Yadav or Washington Sundar will be brought to the playing XI. Alternatively in case Ravindra Jadeja is rested then Kuldeep and Washington will be drafted in as part of the playing XI in the Edgbaston Test. There is a very strong chance of playing two spinners. Its just which two we play. And that goes back to the previous question about juggling the batting depth. All three spinners are bowling very nicely he said. Washis batting very nicely. So its just which combination do we go with? All-rounder spinner or the out-and-out spinner? And you have to play the bowling all-rounder again. So theres so many different variables. The wickets got 11 mm grass on at the moment. 11 or 12 mm. But its quite grassy and patchy. Its quite dry underneath. But theres also rain forecast for Wednesday. So again trying to weigh up the two options of how we want to go attacking-wise. But Im pretty sure two spinners will play in this Test. Nitish Kumar to replace Shardul Thakur Ryan ten Doeschate the India coach also hinted that Nitish Kumar Reddy may get the place of Shardul Thakur who played the first game in the series. This points to the fact that Thakur may find himself omitted in the next confrontation. Hes very close to getting a game. Obviously he was fantastic in Australia. Coming into the team and playing the way he did. “We just felt on balance for the last game we wanted to go with the bowling all-rounder. We thought Shardul was slightly ahead on the bowling front. Were looking at ways of rejigging the puzzle so we can get a batting all-rounder in. Nitish is our premium batting all-rounder at the moment. So I would say its a very good chance to play this test the former Netherlands international said. Jasprit Bumrah to miss second Test India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is set to sit out of the second Test as he is under a workload-management program. The pace bowler would leave a strong impression after taking a five-wicket haul in the first innings of the series opener but it is also his likely match to be inhibited in the Edgbaston clash. Ryan ten Doeschate the assistant coach explained that Bumrah is in perfect health and has no injury concerns- the move is completely precautionary in the long term interest. He is likely to come back in the third Test.
