A Display of Humility and Leadership
In a touching demonstration of humility and leadership, Gautam Adani, the Chairman of the Adani Group, participated in kitchen seva alongside ISKCON volunteers during his visits to the Adani–ISKCON kitchens at the Kumbh Mela and the Jagannath Puri Ratha Yatra. Accompanied by his wife, Dr. Priti Adani, and their son, Karan Adani, the family took the time to inspect the operations of the large kitchens that provide sanctified vegetarian meals (prasadam) to thousands of pilgrims each day.
During his visit, the volunteers warmly invited Adani to join them in their cooking efforts. Despite initial reservations from his security team, he graciously accepted the invitation, aiming to uplift the spirits of the dedicated kitchen staff. He participated by rolling puris and stirring sabji, fostering an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie among everyone present.
Dr. Priti Adani also took part in the seva. A particularly heartwarming moment occurred when she struggled to manage a large khamacha (utensil), prompting Karan Adani to step in and assist her. This simple yet significant act highlighted the family's deep-rooted values, showcasing their wealth not just in finances but also in culture, humility, and mutual respect.
Witnessed by devotees and volunteers, this act of humility served as a genuine expression of gratitude for grassroots service.
According to ISKCON management, "Gautam Adani’s willingness to step into the kitchen, even for a short time, conveyed a powerful message to all of us. It reminded us that true greatness is found in service, not in status."
ISKCON believes that the Adani family's involvement in such cultural and devotional activities sets a significant precedent. Their grounded, value-driven leadership is likely to inspire other business leaders to engage more personally and meaningfully in supporting spiritual and cultural heritage.
