Manchester United are set to complete their second signing of the summer transfer window this week, according to reports. The Red Devils have focused much of their early recruitment under the INEOS regime on youthful additions, and Diego Leon appears likely to be the next in line.
In January, United agreed a £3.2million deal with Paraguayan club Cerro Porteno, and Leon travelled to Manchester for his medical. The 18-year-old left-back was pictured with Lisandro Martinez and Alejandro Garnacho at the club's Carrington training ground.
He was also captured with then-Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne at a nearby medical facility before returning to South America for the rest of the season.
Now, his official United arrival is imminent. According to The Athletic, Leon will return to Manchester this week to finally complete his transfer.
Leon is expected to start pre-season as part of Ruben Amorim's first-team group and could travel on United's tour of the United States.
Amorim's plans for the teenager once the 2025/26 campaign gets underway remain to be seen.
United splashed £25m to sign Patrick Dorgu from Lecce in January, and he will continue to act as the club's first-choice left-wing-back.

Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot can provide cover, while Harry Amass also broke into the first team last season and will be in the picture again if he does not leave on loan.
United could handle Leon's development the same as they have managed Sekou Kone, another of INEOS' young recruits in their drive to invest in the club's future.
Kone spent last season in the Under-21s after arriving from Guidars FC in his homeland, Mali. He featured for the first team in the post-season tour of Asia.
Chido Obi, Ayden Heaven, Enzo Kana Biyik and Harley Emsden-James are among the other teenage talents United have recruited under the new regime.

As Leon's official arrival approaches, work simultaneously continues to strike a deal with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo.
United have had two bids for the 25-year-old forward rejected, the first worth £55m and the latest rising to £62.5m.
The Old Trafford giants are expected to ultimately succeed in capturing Mbeumo after signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves.
Any arrivals beyond Cunha, Leon and Mbeumo will rely on player sales.
