The timing of Meghan Markle's latest launch has been slammed by TalkTV's Kevin O'Sullivan and his guest Kinsey Schofield as they questioned her motivation for releaing a new rosé wine on what would have been Princess Diana's 64th birthday. The Duchess' rosé finally hit the e-shelves as As Ever's first wine was available to purchase just after 4pm BST on July 1 and sold out in less than 45 minutes. However the timing of the launch raised some eyebrows.

As a ticker calling her "tone deaf" broadcast at the bottom of the screen Kevin said: "Should Meghan be releasing a range of alcohol on this special Princess Diana day, because of course, Princess Diana was effectively killed by a drunken driver in Paris all those years ago.

"... I can see why people will be upset about it, but we are hearing that Prince William is absolutely furious about this. He's absolutely enraged by what Meghan has done, he is saying, apparently, to anybody who wants to listen, couldn't she have at least found a different day to launch this wine? It really is a bit off, isn't it, what she's done?" he asked.

Responding, Kinsey, who was chatting over video link said she didn't "want to put words in anyone's mouth" but said she was aware Prince William was not happy about it.

"I do have a source that says Prince William was not impressed to read that Meghan was launching an alcohol product on Princess Diana, Diana, Princess of Wales, birthday.

"My source said: 'It's not lost on Prince William that Meghan has launched an alcohol brand on his mother's birthday, the very month he lost her in a drink driving tragedy.'

"When I asked if there was anger at Meghan for using Diana's birthday to promote her commercial ventures, because, you know, as well as I do, this is something she does pretty religiously, my source replied, 'It's what he's come to expect from her'.

"They also said they, meaning the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Catherine have been quite good at ignoring the Sussexes but anything to do with his mother. is still a tender spot," she shared.

The rosé, which is sourced from California's Napa Valley, is a bespoke blend and, according to the brand's description, features "soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality, and a lasting finish".

The Duchess of Sussex's wine came in batches of three, six and twelve, with each bottle costing £22 ($30) and £66 ($90), £116 ($159) and £218 ($300) in total.

It was available to purchase only within the US with a £15 ($20) flat-rate shipping but could also be shipped to Hawaii with additional charges.
