According to Dimsum DailyAu shared her distress on social media on Wednesday, expressing the emotional toll of their situation.

“After two months of leniency, it has become a reality,” she wrote. “Exhausted, powerless to resolve, maintaining equanimity.”

She shared that their monthly rent is HK$15,000 (US$1,911), and their family of six has been enduring these difficulties for some time. Cheung also disclosed in a recent interview that their monthly expenses exceed HK$30,000.

In recent years, 40-year-old Cheung has taken on various odd jobs to support his family, including working in cable wiring, construction, distributing fliers and condoms, and making food deliveries. Last month, he appealed for help on Instagram, stating: “I’m in urgent need of a job opportunity, requiring HK$6,800 (US$867) today. Help me.”

Cheung first rose to fame in 2003 as a member of the boy band Boy’z, which later rebranded as Sun Boy’z. The group earned recognition and multiple music awards in Hong Kong. However, after the group disbanded in 2008, Cheung’s transition into acting was met with limited success and few opportunities.

Cheung married Au, 34, in 2019, and their financial challenges have been compounded by the damage to his reputation following a cheating scandal in 2019 involving four women, including Hong Kong actress April Leung. Since the scandal, Cheung has struggled to secure steady performance opportunities, further intensifying the couple’s financial difficulties.
