Despite receiving mixed reactions from critics, 'Jurassic World Rebirth' has taken a massive bite out of the global box office, amassing $104.6 million within just two days of its release. The film debuted in the U.S. on July 2, ahead of the Independence Day holiday weekend, giving it a significant midweek launch boost.

Strong domestic opening and global dominance

According to a report by Deadline, the seventh installment in the Jurassic saga kicked off with $30.5 million on Wednesday, followed by $25.3 million on Thursday in the U.S. market. These impressive numbers make it one of the biggest midweek debuts in recent memory.

Internationally, the film pulled in $48.8 million, pushing the global total to $104.6 million by Thursday. In China, it earned $15.5 million by Friday and secured nearly 50% of the country’s box office share. South Korea also saw strong performance with $2.8 million, thanks in part to promotional appearances by cast members Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey.

Other international highlights include the UK/Ireland ($4.5M), Mexico ($4.3M), and Spain ($2.4M). In territories such as Germany, Brazil, Taiwan, and Thailand, the film has ranked #1 since opening.

Jurassic World Rebirth sets record in India

In India, Jurassic World Rebirth has emerged as the biggest franchise opener yet. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film collected over ₹9 crore net on its first day, outperforming other major releases such as Kajol’s Maa, Anurag Basu’s Metro… In Dino, and Brad Pitt’s F1. It has already surpassed the opening-day earnings of 2022’s Jurassic World: Dominion, which grossed ₹8.15 crore net.

A new era for the Jurassic franchise

Directed by Gareth Edwards, the film introduces a fresh storyline while paying homage to the franchise's legacy. With a reported budget of $180 million, Jurassic World Rebirth stars Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Ed Skrein. Unlike the last three Jurassic World films, which featured legacy characters, Rebirth kicks off a new chapter with an extraction team navigating a dinosaur-ridden island to retrieve DNA with the potential to save humanity.

Though it opened lower than earlier installments in the U.S. (which ranged from $145M–$208M), Rebirth is defying expectations and could cross $260 million globally by the end of its first weekend.

Meanwhile, Brad Pitt’s F1 is holding steady in its second week, crossing $200 million globally, including $88.5 million from the U.S. and $125 million overseas.
