Balenciaga is once again selling something that looks distressed and old for a dollar amount that your average person would most likely never want to spend.

The designer label has teamed up with shoewear brand Puma to create a ratty-looking version of the beloved Speedcat sneaker.

The iconic 1999 flat-sole sneaker — which was originally meant to be a Formula 1 racing shoe —normally retails for around $100. But once the brand slapped Balenciaga’s name on the tongue and sides, peeled off the Puma label to make it look worn out and added some grunge to it — this collab version of the sneaker will set you back $685.

The branded pair comes in a variety of colors for bougie customers to choose from.

The collaboration launched late last month, and it was revealed as part of Balenciaga’s winter 2025 collection. The celebrity-loved brand is aiming to put a fresh spin on Puma’s most popular shoe styles, according to WWD.

@hypebeast posted a TikTok video showing off the shoes — and the commenters did not hold back with their opinions.

“did you find these at the thrift store?” joked one person.

“Another scam from balenciaga for rich people, love that!” someone else sarcastically wrote.

“note to self: never Collab with Balenciaga unless u want a shoe that got run over by every kind of construction vehicle,” quipped another commenter.

That last comment might have some truth to it, considering this isn’t the first time Balenciaga has come out with designs that made the public scratch their heads.

For this past Valentine’s Day, the Spanish fashion house released a $595 tattered tee and a zip-up hoodie that had destroyed hems and distressed seams for $1,190.

Even the collection’s color options are bizarre: “dirty white” or “super faded washed black”

As expected, people online had something to say.

Another Instagram user called people “crazy” for “thinking this is luxury fashion wear.”

“Tax anyone who can afford this,” said one person.

“Giving Shein,” someone wrote.
