Mukesh Ambani Asias richest man and the chairman of India’s largest company Reliance Industries is a formidable player not just in India but around the globe. As Mukesh Ambani continues to build a sprawling business empire there is one individual who quietly has initiated behind-the-scenes work for every big deal. He is often referred to as Mukesh Ambani’s right-hand man. He is always referred to as MM. His name is Manoj Modi often referred to as the strategic mind behind many of Reliance’s landmark decisions. Manoj Modi considered by many to be one of Mukesh Ambanis closest associates has been a friend of Ambanis since their undergraduate years. In their university days both Modi and Ambani studied together at the University Department of Chemical Technology (UDCT) in Mumbai and received their bachelors degrees in Chemical Engineering reported AajTak. Interestingly their entry into the Reliance Group was roughly the same time as well: Modi entered Reliance in 1980 and Mukesh Ambani started taking an active role in his fathers business in 1981. Manoj Modi hails from a Gujarati family and maintains a private life. He is married and has two daughters. Not much personal information is available about his family as he prefers to stay away from the limelight. Manoj Modi is commonly referred to as MM among the Reliance group. He started working for Reliance under Dhirubhai Ambani and has since worked very closely with Mukesh Ambani and even with Mukeshs children — Isha Akash and Anant Ambani. This means that Manoj Modi has been heavily involved with all three generations of the Ambani family. Even though he is a major player within the group very few people outside of the business world know his name because he comes off as aloof from fame. He does not use any social media and he is not very visible in the public eye which is strange in todays world. Often referred to as Mukesh Ambanis right-hand man Manoj Modi is one of the most powerful people in the Reliance Group. Reportedly he is the Director of Reliance Retail and Reliance Jio. Mukesh Ambani places all his trust in Manoj Modi with respect to making serious business decisions. Manoj Modi is considered to be the most trusted aide of Mukesh Ambani.  one of his most significant accomplishments took place in 2020 when he helped facilitate a historic deal with Facebook which brought USD 5.7 billion (around ₹48908 crore in today’s valuation) into Jio Platforms. This was not just a financial triumph but also provided the impetus for a series of global investments. Harnessing this energy Jio Platforms went on to raise more than USD 13 billion from some of the best investors across the globe enhancing its global visibility and financial strength. Mukesh Ambani gave Manoj Modi a beautiful apartment in a 22-storey tower situate at Mumbais ultra-luxury Nepean Sea Road — one of the most exclusive addresses in the city. The luxury building priced near ₹1500 crore is more than 1.7 lakh sq. ft. with 8000 sq. ft. floor plates. It is a gift but it also represents the strong trust and relationship Ambani has with Modi his long-time associate and aide.
