
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain and thundershowers across most parts of Kerala over the next several days, issuing a yellow alert for multiple districts including Ernakulam, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod from July 12 to 15, 2025. According to the IMD, Kerala and Lakshadweep have already experienced widespread rainfall, with more expected in the coming week.

Heavy rainfall ranging from 7 to 11 centimeters within 24 hours is very likely at isolated locations during this period.
The yellow alert warns of heavy rain likely on specific days in the following districts:
Day 1 (July 12): Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.
Day 2 (July 13): Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.
Day 3 (July 14): Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.
Day 4 (July 15): Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.
In Thiruvananthapuram, the weather is expected to be generally cloudy with occasional spells of rain or thundershowers.
The IMD has also issued strong wind warnings with surface winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph expected intermittently across Kerala and Lakshadweep between July 12 and 16. Fishermen in South Kerala are specifically advised to exercise caution due to rough sea conditions.
