The Indian team is performing strongly in the ongoing Lord's Test match against England. KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Ravindra Jadeja have made significant contributions with the bat, while Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah have showcased their brilliance with the ball.
Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has made history with his outstanding bowling at Lord’s, and his teammate Mohammed Siraj has also surpassed the legendary Kapil Dev in a key milestone.
Jasprit Bumrah Creates History
In the world of cricket, countries like England, New Zealand, South Africa, and Australia are considered “army countries” due to the pace-friendly conditions they offer.
Fast bowlers are expected to thrive in such conditions. Jasprit Bumrah now holds the record for taking the most international wickets in these nations among Indian bowlers.
At the time of writing, Jasprit Bumrah has taken 221 wickets in these four countries. Earlier, this record was held by legendary spinner and former India head coach Anil Kumble, who had 219 wickets. Bumrah took 5 wickets in the first innings of the Lord’s Test to claim this record.
Mohammed Siraj Surpasses Kapil Dev
Star Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has also crossed an important milestone. He has taken 218 international wickets across seven different countries so far. In the Lord's Test, Siraj has picked up 4 wickets to date.
Javagal Srinath had claimed 212 wickets in seven countries, while the iconic Kapil Dev had 211 wickets to his name.
With one innings still to go in the match, both Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah have the chance to increase their wicket tallies. Given his current form, Siraj could move even closer to Anil Kumble’s record in the near future.
