Rajkummar Rao’s action-packed crime drama Maalik has completed five days in theatres, and early trends show the film slowing down after a promising weekend. Released last Friday, the film stars Rajkummar Rao in a never-seen-before gangster avatar, alongside Manushi Chhillar and Prosenjit Chatterjee. Despite positive word-of-mouth for Rao’s performance, the film is facing tough competition at the box office, especially from the Hollywood giant Superman, which released the same week.
Maalik Day-Wise Collection Breakdown
According to Sacnilk’s box office data, Maalik has now raked in a total of ₹17.81 crore over five days. On its first Tuesday (Day 5), the film earned an estimated ₹1.81 crore. The film opened with ₹3.75 crore on Friday and picked up over the weekend, collecting ₹5.25 crore each on Saturday and Sunday. However, the beginning of the week saw a noticeable dip, with Monday’s numbers dropping before further declining on Tuesday. The film’s overall Hindi occupancy on Tuesday stood at 12.39%.
The ABP Live review of the film reads: 'Maalik' follows the rise of Deepak, a farmer’s son with a quiet college life and a hard-working father tilling the fields. But fate has other plans. As the film unfolds, we witness how circumstances, rage, and survival turn this innocent boy into a fearsome gangster. The storyline itself is straightforward, but it’s the treatment, gritty, grounded, and brutal, that makes it hit different.
About Rajkummar Rao’s Maalik
Directed by Pulkit, Maalik is a collaborative production between Kumar Taurani’s Tips Films and Jay Shewakramani’s Northern Lights Films. While the film’s gritty tone and intense visuals have received appreciation, its overall performance might hinge on how it sustains through its second weekend.
